MP3s cannot get them to play

MP3s cannot get them to play
none 5.0 1

anyone have a clue here? posted this on the lyrion site and didn’t get much help

Hello,
I realize this has been covered elsewhere, but the solution that was provided didn’t work. I have 2 separate LMS Installs . Both with LAME and FFMPEG installed. I have tried the solution suggested using the “clear client” plugin and the un-install- reinstall Group Client plug-in . Nothing seems to work. I’m getting the standard error here that would suggest something isn’t installed. Any suggestions? I don’t have a ton of MP3s anymore, but I have enough that this is frustrating.

Thanks
Tim

Apologies for this delay. It’s been an issue for years and I have yet to look properly into this.

The problem is likely to be on the player side (Squeezelite). But yet to look properly into this as other things kept getting in the way.

What versions of Squeezelite are you using? For some people, using V2 solved the problem.

hmmmm using Seueezlite V2.0 . But one thing I havn’t done is go theough and try different players on this. I’ll give that a shot tonight.

Hopefully I can look deeper into this soon. It’s been so long and really would like to cross this off.

Hey… So I downgraded squeezelite to 1.6 and mp3s now play fine.

That’s cool.. So the problem is not quite fixed yet as newer players still appear to have problems. Will have to look into this deeper when I checked off the current list of things I’m doing :turtle: ..

ALl seems to be working with the older player. I have a handful of mp3s still and it always seems to effect me on this stereo. Working well now

HELLO .. So here’s an update that might be a little more useful to everyone on this problem. I’ve tested all 5 stock players on SOS. My system here is a mini-itx motherboard running the most recent SOS through a USB connected Topping-D10 DAC, Here’s the results on testing MP3 playback:

Squeezlite 1.6 - Plays MP3’s

Squeezelite-R2 - Plays MP3s

Squeezlite-Ralph - Does Not

Squeezlite -1.8 - Plays MP3’s

Squeezlite-2.0 - Does not

I Hope this is useful

Thanks for taking that extra mile. This list is definitely going to be a time saver for me. So I have just created a new issue for this as I cannot find the old ticket mentioning this.

Note that even though the milestone says Unknown above, it will be fixed in 1.4.4. I just forgot to set the milestone during creation… :person_facepalming:
