Follow these simple guide to keep your Snakeoil PC up to date.
SnakeOil 1.4+
The Dashboard will alert you of an update, like so:
Clicking the yellow banner will bring you the the community announcement page of this release. We recommend that you review the release announcement before making a decision to update.
Following option A or B to update Snakeoil OS.
A: Update from the WebApp
Go to the System page. You will see a button that says “Update OS”. Pressing this button will update all packages on your Snakeoil PC - including the Snakeoil application and players.
This is the recommend option as this step will also keep your Ubuntu OS up to date.
B: Update from the CLI
This is more for people who only wants to update the Snakeoil packages but leave everything else untouched. Note this command will also install any new dependency as required by the new packages.
This is not recommended and you accept all risks for doing this.
sudo apt update
sudo apt install -y snakeoil # Update Snakeoil WebApp + API
sudo apt install -y snakeoil-players # Update players (rare for this to do anything)
Older versions
1.3.x
If you are running on Ubuntu 24.04, then please Install SnakeOil package.
Otherwise, backup your SO settings and do a fresh install using Quick Start Guide.
